Group Mat Pilates Classes
Mat Pilates is a low-impact, strength-based movement practice that focuses on building deep core stability, improving posture, and supporting healthy, efficient movement. Through controlled, intentional exercises, Pilates strengthens the muscles that support the spine, hips, and joints while enhancing balance, coordination, and flexibility.
Benefits of Pilates include:
Increased core strength and stability
Improved posture and body awareness
Enhanced flexibility and joint mobility
Better balance and coordination
Support for injury prevention and rehabilitation
Stronger, more resilient muscles without strain
Pilates is accessible to a wide range of bodies and fitness levels and is especially beneficial for those seeking functional strength, improved alignment, and mindful movement that carries into daily life.

FAQs About Getting Started
-
Be sure to wear comfortable clothes you can move in, and bring a water bottle to keep you hydrated. Mats, props, and anything else you’ll need for class will be provided for your use at the studio, though we welcome you to bring your own mat if you have one!
-
When you arrive at the studio, there is parking available on either side of the building. Please enter through the front doors, leave your shoes on the provided shoe mats and your coats on the coatrack.
You will then enter through the righthand door into the studio space where you will check-in with the instructor of the class you are attending.
They will show you where to go and where to find the props you will need. -
Pilates is accessible for most bodies and ability levels, but it is an active form of exercise. Always listen to your body when performing new exercises and stop if you experience pain.
We always encourage you to try what interests you and to meet yourself where you are. Taking breaks or deciding something does not work for your body on a given day is the kind of self-awareness and personal accountability we encourage and expect from all of our clients. -
Pilates can be a wonderful complement to an existing yoga practice, helping build strength and muscle tone to provide more stability in yoga poses, but it is an entirely separate modality of fitness.
Pilates takes a fitness-style approach to classes, performing exercises in reps rather than flowing sequences, and focusing on building strength and endurance rather than improving flexibility and range of motion.
Yoga and Pilates overlap in many of their physical and mental/emotional benefits but with different approaches in exercises and class structure.
